Problems: Code Compliance, Safety, & Modernization
Built in 1966, the GRW has floor to ceiling windows designed to provide an abundance of light and view. In 2003 the University began a multi-year renovation project to modernize the offices, including removed a safety rail in front of the glass. By removing the safety rail, the glass no longer complied with current safety codes.
In order to protect occupant safety and to bring the windows up to code, Sun-Lite installed Ultra 400 film and 3M™ attachment systems including the 3M™ Impact Performance Profile specified, in the event of glass breakage, to hold the glass in the frame while minimizing VOC during and after installation. Sun-Lite finished the last phase of the project in summer 2013.
